Overseas Fields Host Weekend
On November 13-14, 2009 the Bahamas, Cayman, and Turks and Caicos Offshore Fields in the West Indies Union hosted the University Church services. A beautiful atmosphere was set by the conference administrators and students from these districts as the congregation awaited a special blessing.
Dr. Leonard A. Johnson, President of the Bahamas Conference of Seventh-day Adventist, was the speaker for the vesper service. In his opening statements he said “I am proud of the great work NCU is doing to shape the lives of its students, and I am very happy and pleased to know that the students from the Overseas Fields in West Indies Union are doing well.”

In his sermon, Dr. Johnson unfolded three steps Jesus used to strengthen and renew the faith of the disciples on the road to Emmaus.
Step 1: Jesus opened the scriptures.
Step 2: Jesus opened their eyes.
Step 3: Jesus opened their understanding.
On Sabbath morning hundreds of members and invited guests gathered to continue this spiritual summit. During the divine service the leaders brought greetings from their respective fields and introduced their colleagues in administration.

Pastor Eric D. Clarke, President of the Cayman Islands Conference, presented the message for the day entitled “Overcoming Faith”. He reminded us that “Satan wants to sift us like wheat, but Jesus is praying for us to be converted, so we can strengthen one another.”

Another unforgettable feature of the weekend was the heavenly music. The Turks & Caicos, Caymanian and Bahamian Choir, NCU’s Inspirational Choir, and the Hanson Sisters ministered to our hearts through songs.
