MEET OUR PASTOR

He is dynamic, energetic, tall, dark, and handsome. Born on January 1, this witty, creative, down-to-earth Pastor is our spiritual leader at the University Church. Pastor T. Basil Sturrup is married to Lavern Scavella and they are the proud parents of two beautiful children: Tarea and Brandon. He enjoys reading, playing tennis, swimming, inventing things, playing golf and travelling the world . . . .

AN EXCELLENT PREACHER

“What I really like about Pastor Sturrup is that he is a good conversationalist. It’s really invigorating to be engaged in a conversation with him. He is open minded and free spirited. He is not afraid of exploring new ideas and digging into deeper meaning of concepts. This is evident by the way Pastor Basil conducts services in the local church and in evangelistic campaigns. In addition to that, it is a pleasant and uplifting experience to listen as Pastor Sturrup preaches. His unique approach to imparting knowledge always presents us with new insights into the scriptures.”

A PASSIONATE EVANGELIST

2007 was a wonderful experience for the University Church in terms of evangelism. Out of 52 Sabbaths in the calendar year, thirty-seven of those were graced with baptismal services. Our Pastor’s greatest desire is to see souls born in the kingdom of God and remain there. To date God has blessed his ministry with over 4200 baptisms.

A FAMILY MAN

For Pastor Sturrup family is first and he shares this philosophy with the members of the Church. “Ensure that you spend quality time with your families, because the Pastor spends time with his.” His goal in life is to be the best husband and father in the world.
